Gansu Binnong's 5000 tonnes per year glufosinate ammonium line passes completion based EP acceptance

Summary: In late April, the completion-based environmental protection check and acceptance report of Gansu Binnong's 22,000 t/a pesticides and intermediate project (Phase I) was released. The Phase I program includes 5,000 t/a glufosinate-ammonium production capacity.

In late April, the completion-based environmental protection (EP) check and acceptance report of Gansu Binnong Technology Co., Ltd. (Gansu Binnong)'s 22,000 t/a pesticides and intermediate project (Phase I) was released. The Phase I program involves production lines of 5,000 t/a glufosinate-ammonium and 9,000 t/a methyldiethoxyphosphine, plus some supporting facilities. The lines were located in Lanzhou New Area Chemical Park, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province. Gansu Binnong is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shandong Binnong Technology Co., Ltd.

 

In early May, the ex-works price of 95% glufosinate-ammonium TC was quoted at USD8,029/t (RMB57,000/t) in China. The price fell by 28.75% YoY. Currently, the glufosinate-ammonium producers have quite good operation and there is ample supply in the market. Against the backdrop of weak demand as well as excessive supply, no wonder the product has a rather weak price.

 

Since late 2023, several companies have revealed progresses of their glufosinate-ammonium projects, such as:

  • On 14 May, CCM learned that the construction of Hebei Shanli Technology & Chemistry Co., Ltd.'s 210,000 t/a green agrochemicals project was still in progress. The project was approved by local government in Aug. 2023. According to the plan, the company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hebei Lingang Chemical Co., Ltd., will have large-scale capacity for glufosinate-ammonium and glufosinate-P formulations upon completion, including 140,000 t/a 200g/L glufosinate-ammonium AS, 6,000 t/a 10% glufosinate-ammonium AS, 3,000 t/a 15% glufosinate-ammonium AS, and 1,000 t/a 30% glufosinate-ammonium AS in its plant in the Cangzhou Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province.
  • On 4 Jan., the environmental impact (EI) report of Hebei Nongbiwei Biotechnology Co., Ltd.'s 33,100 t/a green pesticide TC and series of by-products project was approved by local government. The project involves 10,000 t/a glufosinate-ammonium TC capacity.
  • In late 2023, Shandong NHU Amino Acid Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhejiang NHU Co., Ltd. (stock code: 002001), had two glufosinate-ammonium-related projects approved. Both projects were planned to be built in the Advanced Manufacturing Industrial Park, Weifang Binhai Economic and Technological Development Zone, Weifang City, Shandong Province:
  • EI report of the 1,000 t/a phosphorus amino acid project was approved on 3 Nov., 2023. The project involves the construction of production capacity of 800 t/a glufosinate-ammonium TC and 1,000 t/a 20% glufosinate-ammonium water soluble formulations (glufosinate-ammonium content equals 200 t/a);
  • EI report of the 60,000 t/a phosphorus amino acid project was approved on 28 Dec., 2023. The project is planned in two phases, each phase involving 27,000 t/a glufosinate-ammonium TC and 15,000 t/a 20% glufosinate-ammonium water soluble formulations.
