On November 8, Ma Aiguo, Chief Agronomist of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, met Enzo Benech, Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries of Uruguay, in Beijing. They exchanged views on deepening agricultural cooperation between China and Uruguay.

Ma said that agriculture was an important part of Sino-Uruguay cooperation, and that bilateral agricultural cooperation had seen positive progress in recent years, thanks to the joint efforts of both sides. Given that agriculture in China and Uruguay are highly complementary and has great potential for cooperation, he proposed that the two sides further consolidate the current mechanism for agricultural cooperation, make plans for the future, and continue to deepen bilateral agricultural trade, so as to promote pragmatic agricultural cooperation and bring about further development in the two countries agricultural sector.

Benech said that as the two sides shared common goals and had a good foundation for agricultural cooperation, Uruguay was ready to work with China to consolidate the existing achievements, expand cooperation areas, and promote the common development of agriculture in the two countries.
