Han Jun Meets with Australian Senators McDonald and Sterle

Han Jun, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural affairs, met with Susan McDonald, Chair of the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee of the Australian Senate, and Glenn Sterle, Chair of the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee, in Beijing on Nov. 5. They made exchanges on the agricultural policies of China and Australia and discussed the areas for future agricultural cooperation between the two countries. 

  

Han said the healthy and stable development of Sino-Australian relationship was in the fundamental interests of peoples in the two countries. China and Australia were highly complementary in agriculture, holding huge potential for cooperation. China hoped the two sides could increase political mutual trust and promote the healthy development of agricultural cooperation between the two countries in a sustained manner based on principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit. Upon request, Han also introduced China's policies on poverty alleviation, rural revitalization strategy, and biological technologies. 

  

McDonald and Sterle said the rapid development of China's agriculture and rural areas was exciting accomplishments and that Australia hoped to speed up exchanges and cooperation with China in the areas of agricultural development and rural areas so as to attract Chinese businesses to invest in Australia.
