The 24th China Fishery Expo was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province on October 30. Yu Kangzhen, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the High-level International Fishery Dialogue and delivered a keynote speech. He also had in-depth discussions with fishery officials, diplomatic envoys and exhibitor representatives from Iceland, Norway, Russia and Argentina.
The Expo stated that China’s fishing industry provided Chinese solution to the conflict between conservation and utilization of fishery resources. China has always stuck to the principle of conservation of fishery resources, green aquaculture, and fishery management in accordance with the law, in order to protect the fishery resources. China’s fishery will open further to the outside world as it adheres to the principle of promoting development in an open, law-based, and cooperative manner, thus integrating itself with an open mind into the world fishery development.
Hosted by the Agricultural Sub-council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, this year’s Expo attracted nearly 1,600 companies from 53 countries and regions as well as 22 national delegations. With a total area of 100,000 square meters, the exhibition covered the areas of fishing, aquaculture, processing, refrigeration, and logistics. Nearly 50,000 visitors registered to participate in the exhibition.
