Vice Minister Zhang Taolin Meets New Zealand Minister of Primary Industries O'Connor

MARA website -- Vice Minister Zhang Taolin met with Minister of Primary Industries of New Zealand Damien O'Connor in Beijing on August 5. 

  

Vice Minister Zhang said agriculture is a major part of the bilateral relationship between China and New Zealand. Wth joint efforts over recent years, the two countries have achieved considerable progress in agricultural cooperation. He said that China and New Zealand are highly complementary in agriculture and have huge potential for cooperation. He suggested that the two sides make full use of the Joint Committee of Agriculture and enhance cooperation in rural development, agricultural science and technology, sustainable development, climate change, international food and agricultural affairs, and so forth, in order to promote the bilateral agricultural cooperation in a pragmatic manner. Upon request, Vice Minister Zhang also briefed Minister O'Connor on China's rural revitalization strategy, particularly on talent revitalization. 

  

Minister O'Connor said that New Zealand sees China as its most important agricultural partner. New Zealand is ready to work with China in consolidating agricultural cooperation achievements, expanding cooperation areas, and promoting common development of agriculture in the two countries.
