Vice Minister Yu Kangzhen met with Hon. Semi Koroilavesau, Minister for Fisheries of the Republic of Fiji, in Suva on 8 Sept. 2017. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening fisheries cooperation.
Vice Minister Yu noted that China attaches great importance to fisheries cooperation with Fiji and is willing to support the fisheries development as well as economic and social progress in Fiji. He proposed that the two sides strengthen cooperation in fishery resource conservation and use, aquaculture, deep processing, cold chain logistics and trade of aquatic products, infrastructure building of fishing port complex, and fishery research and training.
Mr. Koroilavesau fully agreed with Vice Minister Yu and expressed that the Fijian side would create an enabling environment to facilitate China’s fishery investment in Fiji and deepen bilateral cooperation.
During his stay in Fiji, Vice Minister Yu visited a fishery wharf and held a meeting with representatives from Chinese fishery enterprises in Fiji.
