Minister Han Changfu met with Mr. Krzysztof Jurgiel, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland in Warsaw, Poland on 28 August 2017. The two sides had in-depth discussions on strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation.

Minister Han noted that his current visit to Poland is aimed at implementing the Joint Statement on Establishing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed by the two heads of states when President Xi Jinping visited Poland last June, thus further deepening agricultural cooperation between the two countries. He said that Poland situates in the center of the European continent and enjoys unique geographical advantages in the context of the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. In recent years, great achievements have been made in agricultural science and technology, food safety, livestock and veterinary services and agricultural trade through practical cooperation on the basis of advantages of both sides.

Minister Han suggested that in the future, the two sides should fully capitalize on multilateral and bilateral mechanisms such as 16+1 (China and Central and Eastern European Countries), China-Poland agricultural cooperation working group, and China-Poland agricultural science and technology center, to facilitate cooperation in trade and investment, personnel exchanges and training, and technology and policy exchanges, serving as a positive role model of agricultural cooperation in the Belt and Road blueprint.

Mr. Jurgiel fully agreed with Minister Han. He spoke highly of China-Poland agricultural cooperation and expressed his willingness to advance cooperation with China.

During the stay, Minister Han, accompanied by Mr. Jurgiel, visited local apple orchards and pig farms, and witnessed the signing of agreement on establishing a joint laboratory of animal disease control between Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and National Veterinary Research Institute (NVRI) of Poland.
