The Dezhou and Jining sub-branches were completed on schedule in June 2006, marking the completion of the Ji-Ning trunk, completed in 2005, and the six sub-branches of the West-East Gas Pipeline. The Ji-Ning branch, with a total length of 1,242 kilometers, connects the Qingshan transmission station of the West-East Gas Pipeline and Anping transmission station of the Second Shaan-Jing Gas Pipeline, which travels across Hebei, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces and links the two major economic zones of the Yangtze Delta and the Bohai Bay.

The Ji-Ning Pipeline is the first digitalized one in China. The completion of this branch of the West-East Gas Pipeline realizes dual-direction gas transmission and allows for adjustments between the West-East Gas Pipeline and the Second Shaan-Jing Gas Pipeline. Moreover, the pipeline directly links Liuzhuang underground gas storage at Huai’an and the LNG Project in East China, which is a significant step towards promoting economic development and improving energy supplies along the line.
