CNPC and Chevron formally launched a cooperation project for the development of acid gas in northeast Sichuan Province on April 2.

The contract area is mainly located in Xuanhan County and Wanyuan City in Dazhou, and Kaixian County in Chongqing, covering an area of 1,969 square kilometers. Development of gas reservoirs in this area faces great technical challenges, due to complex surface and geological conditions and high hydrogen sulphide content. CNPC intends to introduce advanced technologies and experiences from Chevron to tap gas reserves in northeast Sichuan safely and efficiently.
