At a ceremony of donation for the 2008 Oasis Action from Beijing Youth held on April 8, CNPC donated RMB 500,000 to the campaign, in addition to a donation of RMB 300,000 in 2007.

The Oasis Action is an all Chinese charity campaign jointly initiated by China Green Foundation, National Afforestation Environmental Protection Committee, Chinese Educators Association of Macau, Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers and Beijing People's Broadcasting Corporation. Since the commencement of the campaign, a total donation of RMB 2.5 million has been raised and all has been used to aid students living in poverty in desert and arid areas of eight provinces and autonomous regions in West China, and to improve the teaching conditions of local schools.
