Zhang Taolin, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, recently met with Aziz Akhannouch, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests of Morocco, in Morocco’s capital city Rabat. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral cooperation mechanism, pelagic fishery, tea, agricultural trade and investment, South-South cooperation and so on.

Zhang noted that China attaches great importance to sound development of tea export to Morocco, hoping that Morocco will adopt the Codex Alimentarius Commission's general standards to create a favorable environment for bilateral tea trade. Zhang said China welcomes Morocco’s high-quality agricultural products and hoped that bilateral agricultural trade will continue to develop in a healthy manner. He suggested that China and Morocco establish an agricultural cooperation mechanism for regular communication as well as S&T cooperation, especially on digital agriculture, plant protection, agricultural product storage and processing, South-South cooperation, among others.

Aziz Akhannouch fully agreed with Zhang’s suggestions and expressed the willingness to establish an agricultural cooperation mechanism with China as well as export more oranges, tangerines and other agricultural products to China. He looked forward to working with China on agricultural trade and investment so as to improve the business environment and encourage Chinese companies to invest in Morocco.
