According to the news from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (MOA), In the middle of June, the Office of the Construction Leading Group for the National Modern Agricultural Industrial Parks conducted a review of records submitted by each province and planned to file and publicize an approved list of National Modern Agriculture Industrial Parks in 2019. 45 national modern agricultural industrial parks, and 7 provincial modern agricultural industrial parks are included in the national management system. They were shown on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Area from June 13 to June 19.

Two more agricultural industrial parks in Hubei selected, three agricultural parks in Sichuan become candidates for National Modern Agricultural Industrial Parks

According to the website of Hubei China news, the two new national modern agricultural industrial parks are namely Modern Agricultural Industrial Park in Yiling District of Yichang City and Modern Agricultural Industrial Park in Sui County. Last year, the modern agricultural industrial park in Qianjiang city was first selected to be a national agricultural industrial park in Hubei. Sichuan Daily also shows on its website that three agricultural industrial parks in cities of Guanghan, Qionglai and Anyue county become candidates for national agricultural industrial parks. Sichuan owns the same number of candidates as Guangdong, and these two provinces rank first. The number of national agricultural industrial parks in Sichuan province reach seven, the most of any province in China.

China currently operates 62 national modern agricultural industrial parks

On July 19, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in China has announced that China has approved 62 national modern agricultural industrial parks in order to improve the rural industry. 20 agricultural industrial parks in the first round are recognized. According to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the central government in China gives RMB 5 billion in funding to support the construction of national modern agricultural industrial parks.

Apart from a total of 62 national modern agricultural industrial parks, more than one thousand modern agricultural industrial parks and a number of agricultural industrial parks in cities and counties were also built in China. Currently, these 62 national modern agricultural industrial parks produce products for 95 leading industries, attracting nearly 100 national key enterprises and about 500 provincial key enterprises to join and corporate with them. 142 thousand workers are employed in these national modern agricultural industrial parks, and the income of the farmers in these industrial parks reach RMB 22,000, which is 34% higher than the income level of the farmers in rural areas.

According to Changfu Han, the minister of MOA, problems of modern agricultural industrial parks still exist. For example, leading industries in most modern agricultural industrial parks are not outstanding; the industrial parks oriented toward grain, cotton, oil as well as sugar are not common; the understanding of industry convergence is limited. As a result, in the future, these industrial parks should be planed and developed scientifically, in order to improve the system of agricultural industrial parks in China.
