The 1st Belt and Road (ASEAN) Agricultural Investment Cooperation Forum was held in Nanning, Guangxi on 11 Sept. 2017. The event was jointly organized by the MOA and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Taking “the Belt and Road Initiative brings new opportunities for agricultural investment cooperation” as the theme, the Forum aims at creating a three-in-one dialogue platform for agricultural investment cooperation among governments, research institutions and enterprises of China and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. China’s Chief Veterinary Officer Zhang Zhongqiu delivered a keynote speech at the Forum.

Mr. Zhang noted that China and ASEAN have witnessed a "golden decade" of agricultural investment cooperation since the signing of the Free Trade Agreement, and now we are ushering into a "diamond decade" featuring brighter prospects under the Belt and Road Initiative. He called upon China and ASEAN countries to increase policy communication, improve multi-level dialogue mechanisms, facilitate the implementation of major joint projects and boost two-way investment in agriculture.

Over 300 government officials, experts and entrepreneurs from China and ASEAN attended the Forum.
