Minister Han Changfu, accompanied by Mr. Willy Borsus, Minister of Small Business Owners, SMEs, the Self-Employed, Agriculture and Social Integration of Belgium, visited local farms during his stay at the EU headquarters in Belgium on 20 April 2017. The two ministers exchanged views on strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation. Mr. Qu Xing, Chinese Ambassador to Belgium, attended related activities.

Minister Han noted that China and Belgium are highly complementary to each other in agricultural sector with great potential for cooperation. He suggested that the two sides deepen pragmatic agricultural cooperation, facilitate scientific and technological exchanges, boost two-way investment, expand bilateral agricultural trade and push for common agricultural development. Minister Han invited the Belgian Ministry to take part in the China Agricultural Trade Fair to be held in late September this year.

Mr. Borsus said that the Belgian side is willing to work with China to enhance cooperation in prioritized areas such as agro-product quality and safety, animal and plant health, and further expand agricultural trade.
