2nd Meeting of China-Uzbekistan Agriculture Subcommittee held in Beijing

Minister Han Changfu, together with Mr. Zoyir Toirovich Mirzaev, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation of Uzbekistan, co-chaired the 2nd Meeting of the Agriculture Subcommittee of the China-Uzbekistan Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee in Beijing on 19 April 2017. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral agricultural cooperation and related issues of common interest.

 

Minister Han noted that China and Uzbekistan enjoy complementarities and broad prospects for cooperation in agriculture. China highly values bilateral agricultural cooperation, and is willing to, following the principle of equality, mutual benefits and win-win outcome, strengthen all-round cooperation with Uzbekistan in areas of fruit and vegetable production, water-saving irrigation, soil amelioration, livestock, veterinary services, aquaculture, animal and plant quarantine, agricultural research, capacity building and agricultural trade and investment to expand cooperation scope and improve agricultural cooperation, hence bringing benefits to the two countries and the two peoples.

 

Mr. Mirzaev fully agreed with Minister Han and noted that China and Uzbekistan enjoy traditional friendship and agricultural cooperation is of great significance to promoting friendship and improving the people's wellbeing. Uzbekistan stands ready to work with China to enhance exchanges and cooperation in the areas outlined above to promote agricultural development of both countries.

 

At the end of the Meeting, the two sides signed the minutes of the meeting and a plan on cooperation and exchange between the two ministries for 2018-2020.
