Alltech survey perceives possible further rise in feed costs

Press Release

Over 1700 attendees were surveyed during Alltech's annual Animal Health and Nutrition Symposium from 20-23 April 2008.

Biofuels will increase the cost of food by more than 30 percent, said 70 percent of the respondents.

About 48 percent of respondents agreed that the current generation of agriculture could be considered the greenest generation ever; over half of respondents believed that pollution legislation will noticeably increase feed cost; while the vast majority of those surveyed consider that more efficient food production is the key to the future success of animal farming.

Alltech president, Dr Pearse Lyons said, "Alltech's annual Symposium unites agricultural experts from across the globe. The occasion offers an ideal opportunity to share ideas on the future of our industry, as illustrated by the findings of this extensive opinion poll".

Respondents included agricultural professionals such as, nutritionists, veterinarians and other industry experts, representing all seven continents.
