According to statistics by December 19, Changqing Oilfield has produced 30 million tons of oil and gas equivalent in 2009, making it China's second largest field next to Daqing Oilfield.

The past decade has seen Changqing's robust growth: oil and gas production exceeded 10 million tons and 20 million tons in 2003 and 2007 respectively, and is expected to exceed 31 million tons by the end of this year. Natural gas has taken up half of the field's total output in 2009.

Oil and gas reservoirs in Changqing field are characterized by low permeability, low formation pressure and low yield. Years of research, technical integration and innovation has made the development of these hard to tap resources safe and efficient. A package of unique development technologies will help Changqing achieve an annual capacity of 50 million tons of oil and gas equivalent in 2015.

At present, the three major gas fields in Changqing — Sulige, Jingbian and Yulin produce 65 million cubic meters of natural gas every day, making Changqing the largest gas province in China.
